Placing an Order

How do I order by phone?

Please call our toll free number (800) 448-4115 and speak to one of our customer service reps to place an order. Phones are answered from 8 am to 5 pm Central Time, Monday-Friday. Payment methods accepted include VISA, MASTERCARD, DISCOVER, or AMERICAN EXPRESS cards. An order can also be mailed in to us with a check or money order. Customers who have established an open account can charge with Net 30 Day terms. Charge orders can be faxed, mailed, phoned, or placed online.

How do I set up a charge account as an institutional buyer?

Institutional buyers that would like to set up a charge account can download our credit application and then fax or mail it to Constructive Playthings. To download the application, you’ll need a copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you don't have a copy, click on the icon below to download one for free. Once an account has been established and you have received your customer code/number, you will then be able to charge orders on-line. See Online Ordering for details on how to charge orders on-line.

Can I place an order as a tax-exempt organization?

Churches, Schools and Non-profit organizations can file for tax exempt status by completing a 501c3 form and providing it to us via mail or fax. Individuals who pay with a personal credit card for the benefit of churches, schools or NPO’s are not eligible for tax exemption.

I’m having issues adding items to my cart and/or checking out. Can you help?

If you are unable to add items to your shopping cart, or if you get an error message when you try to checkout, there may be an issue with our cookie. If you are experiencing these errors please click here to reset the cookie. If problems continue, please email us at webmaster@ustoyco.com with the subject “Checkout Error” and a description of the error you are experiencing. We will respond to you within 24-48 hrs.

Why can’t I find some items that are in the catalog?

We continually update our items to ensure that you always get the highest quality products when shopping at Constructive Playthings. Due to product line updates, the website occasionally has products that the catalogs do not. On rare occasions, you may not be able to find an item that is in a past or current catalog. This may be because that particular product is sold out or discontinued.

Why doesn't my coupon code work?

Our offers are catalog/site specific. Please make sure you are on the correct site. Coupon codes for Constructive Playthings School Division only work on www.constructiveplaythings.com and coupon codes for CP Toys Division only work on www.cptoys.com

How can I get more information on an item?

If you have a question about a specific item(s), please email us at cp@constructiveplaythings.com with the subject line “Request Additional Item Information” and we will send you more information as soon as possible.

What does backordered mean?

While we strive to maintain our inventory levels, popular items may become out-of-stock temporarily. If you desire to order an item on backorder or out-of-stock, please contact a customer service agent at (800) 832-0572.

How do I change or cancel my order?

At Constructive Playthings, we do everything we can to process your order as quickly as possible. Once your order is processed, it may not be possible to change or cancel your order. Please contact a customer service agent at (800) 832-0572 to see what options you have available.

Shipping and Taxes

What are you shipping terms and conditions?

All shipping prices are freight on board (FOB) from our warehouse. Shipping charges are calculated based on order size and cost and the shipping requirements. See specific shipping charges for more information. We reserve the right to improve designs and specifications that may impact shipping. All prices on the website are based on current conditions and are subject to change.

What are your shipping rates?

See the chart below for our warehouse shipping charges in the 48 contiguous states, excluding drop ship items.


What is your normal processing time for shipments?

It is an exception when we cannot make immediate shipment - but it does happen. Normal processing may take up to 2-3 business days depending on season. Normal shipping may take 5-7 business days to arrive once your order ships. On occasions, we must wait on a new factory shipment of stock. Sorry, no C.O.D.'s.

What qualifies as a “truck item” for shipping?

Truck items are identified in the catalog by the symbol *†*located next to the item’s price and are larger items like furniture. These items are INCLUDED in the amount to reach $1000.00 for free shipping. If needed, “Inside Truck Delivery” or "Lift Gate" is an additional $55 charge.  Additional special handling requirements (appointments, limited access) may be available. Please call for a quote.

What items require extra freight charges?

Our "Free Freight" is for ground service UPS or "curbside" truck delivery. If you need help unloading the truck, we can specify to the freight line that your shipment will be "Inside Delivery", which means the freight line will take the merchandise off the truck and set just outside your front door. The charge for this is $55; this is an extra charge that is not covered by the "free freight" policy.

If you do not have a raised loading dock and there is a single crate or item that is bulky or heavy, a "lift gate" truck is required. A lift gate is a mechanical attachment on the back of the truck to lower boxes to ground level. This is needed primarily on lofts, some large playground pieces, and a few pieces of large furniture. The charge for this is $55; this is an extra charge that is not covered by the "free freight" policy.  If more than one additional service is required, only one $55 charge will be added to your invoice.

Orders requiring either "Inside Delivery" or a "Lift Gate" must be placed by phone as they require special processing. These orders cannot be placed online. You can call our toll free number at (800) 448-4115 and a member of our team will be happy to assist in placing your order.

What does “drop ship” mean?

These items come directly from the factory and are EXCLUDED in the total to reach free shipping. Items categorized as “drop ship” are notated in the product description on the website product page. Primarily, these are playground items and some furniture. We charge actual shipping on these items so please call for a quote.

Do you collect sales tax in all states?

We collect sales tax in Colorado, Missouri, Rhode Island, Texas, Kansas, Pennsylvania, Florida, North Carolina and California. If you are tax exempt and are in any of these states, you must have a copy of the tax exemption faxed or mailed with your first order.

Returns and Exchanges

Our goal is to make sure you’re completely satisfied with every purchase. If you are not 100% satisfied, please let us know within 30 days of delivery. Just call (800) 448-1412 Monday–Friday 8 am – 5 pm (Central), or email us at cp@constructiveplaythings.com.  Our customer service team will help with one of the following exchange or return options that work best for you:

Exchanges


Standard exchange: Contact us, and one of our team members will explain how to return the original item to us. We’ll send the replacement when we receive the original item.

Fast exchange: Call us to place a new order for a replacement, and a team member will explain how to return the original item.  We’ll ship the replacement as soon as we can – usually within 2-3 business days. Your credit card will be charged for the new order, but we’ll refund the amount of the original purchase, excluding shipping costs, when we receive the returned item. Please allow 1-2 billing cycles for any refunds to appear on your statement.

Phone returns:  Contact us, and one of our team members will explain how to return the item. All you need is your packing slip, shipping confirmation, or invoice when you call. You’ll receive a full refund, minus shipping costs, when we receive your return. Please allow 1-2 billing cycles for any refunds to appear on your statement.

Store returns:  You can exchange or return items to any of our retail store locations, if you live nearby. Just bring the item to the store, along with the packing slip, shipping confirmation, or a copy of your credit card statement or invoice. You can exchange the item (if the item is in stock), or you can return the item for a full refund, excluding shipping costs. If you do not have any of the above documents, we will give you store credit. Items received as gifts are only eligible for exchange or store credit. 

Returning damaged items

If your order arrives damaged, we will find a solution to make sure you are satisfied with your experience. If you notice damage to the merchandise or the packaging at the time of delivery, please write a description of the damage on the delivery receipt before the delivery driver leaves.  You may also refuse shipment.  Even if you don’t discover the damage at the time of delivery, we can help.  Just call us at 1-800-448-1412. You will not be charged for shipping and handling on your replacement order for a damaged item.

How do I track my order?

To track your order, log in to My Account to view all previously placed orders or track any order that hasn’t yet arrived. You may also click on the tracking number provided in your shipment confirmation for orders placed through our website.

Other Questions

What if I forgot my password?

If you have forgotten your password, go to My Account and provide your email address and possible password. If the password is incorrect, you will be taken to a follow-up page. Click that you forgot your password and a temporary password will be sent to you automatically. If you do not receive the email within a few minutes, check your spam or junk folder. If the email is still not received, send an email to webmaster@ustoyco.com with the subject “Constructive Playthings Password Recovery” and respond within 24-48 hours.

What if I have spam filtering setup for my email?

If you have an email spam filtering service you will need to add the domain “@constructiveplaythings.com” to the “Safe List” in your junk mail folder. This change will allow you to receive emails relating to order confirmations, shipping notifications, or promotions and events (if you have opted to receive them).
